It’s been a busy start to the year for pupils at Banchory Academy who are involved with the schools “Banchory Leaders” programme run by Active Schools in partnership with the PE dept.
So far this school year 16 pupils have been out delivering a range of extra-curricular sports sessions to primary pupils in the nearby Banchory Primary and Hill of Banchory schools.
Pupil leadership is a key priority of Active Schools, and pupils at Banchory Academy have embraced the opportunities they have been offered as part of the programme, including attending a wide range of training either in specific sports or in sports leadership in general, which has helped to develop their confidence and ensure the high quality of sessions that they deliver.
Recruitment for the programme is ongoing so we hope to see even more pupils volunteering in sport and physical activity as the year progresses.
Aberdeenshire Council are looking for eager and motivated volunteers to contribute to the development of projects and partnerships in a sporting and physical activity environment (incorporating sport, play, health and active travel) for young people. These exciting roles will support the Active Schools team in meeting the national aims of Sportscotland.
You will be an enthusiastic, driven individual with excellent interpersonal skills who can help grasp opportunities to develop sport and physical activity within Aberdeenshire.
