James Shivas was a prolific photographer from Peterhead, who documented local life from the 1870's. His son followed in his father's footsteps, meticulously recording ways of life up to the 1950's.
This Shivas collection represents a large percentage of the Peterhead photographic collection.
Scanned from original glass plates these negatives we have here, approximately 800, make up only about 1% of the total photographic collection of Aberdeenshire Council's Museums Service.
