Everything you need to know to about Macduff Marine Aquarium!

When can I visit the aquarium?

The aquarium will open on the 26th April 2021.

We are operating with a pre-visit booking system to help us manage visitor numbers within the building. Everyone must book a time slot in advance and bring their booking confirmation on the day – even if you are an annual ticket holder or have a pre-paid gift ticket.

To avoid queues at the door, please arrive at the right time for your visit. You can explore the aquarium for up to two hours with your ticket, but there will be no re-entry.

Summer Opening hours:

Monday to Friday: 10am to 5pm

Saturday and Sunday: 11am to 5pm

Last entry: 4.15pm

Is it safe to visit the aquarium?

We have put safety measures in place for our staff and visitors. These include:

  • Limiting visitor numbers in the building with advanced online booking required
  • Introducing a one-way system throughout the building. This is still fully accessible for all exhibit areas and there are ‘shoaling areas’ where you can pause and let others pass
  • Floor markers will remind you and your shoal to keep a safe distance from others. Please keep your shoal together as you explore the aquarium
  • We will be cleaning all high touch areas and toilet facilities regularly throughout the day
  • Visitors are encouraged to make use of the hand sanitising stations within the aquarium and to avoid touching the tanks
  • Visitors will be asked to wear masks in line with government guidelines for indoor spaces
  • There won’t be any feed shows or presentations during the day to avoid gatherings of people, but you can enjoy a new ‘Dive in and Listen’ audio tour and our enthusiastic Marine Masters are always on hand to answer your questions – from a safe distance!

If you or anyone in your group is showing symptoms of Covid-19, please keep us all safe by staying at home.

What about toilet and baby changing facilities?

Toilets are available, but we recommend you use them at the beginning of your visit as the one-way system means you won’t be able to return.

An enhanced cleaning schedule will be in place throughout the day.

How do I visit?

Everyone must book a time slot for visiting in advance, including those with annual tickets and pre-paid gift tickets. You will receive an email confirmation of your booking – please bring this with you to show as you arrive and pay for your entry at the door. Please bring card payment options – no cash please!

Time slots will be available for every 15 minutes throughout the day, with 10 tickets available for one slot. You can explore the aquarium for up to 2 hours. Please arrive on time or your visit will be shortened.

If you arrive without pre-booking, we cannot guarantee you will be able to visit – we will try to book you onto the next available time slot. Please remain in your car or outside the aquarium and phone us on 01261 833369 to make these arrangements.

If your plans change and you cannot make your pre-booked time, please cancel and rebook.
