Orienteering is an outdoor activity where you walk or run a course via a series of "control" points, using a detailed map for guidance. There’s no set route between the controls, so you have to decide which way to go and find your way there. As well as map reading, it’s a great way to encourage decision-making, responsibility, knowing and recognising your environment, problem-solving, team-work, and self-confidence. As an outdoor group activity, it can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be – no tech is necessary.
Orienteering is a great sport to build awareness of the surrounding landscape and skills of navigation from a simple route or map.
Sessions can be designed for all ages and abilities at any location.
Individual and team activities form part of each session.
Mapped locations can provide further opportunities for progression of skills.
Trainers and weather appropriate clothing are all you need.
