Why not get along to your local library and sign up for Summer Reading: library opening hours
We have something for all ages so simply register at your nearest library or below to be in with a chance to win some fantastic prizes. There is also a creative competition for you all to take part in.
For more information about this year's Summer Reading, listen to Jackie, one of our Support Librarian's talk to fellow librarian's, Jane and Shirley in our latest podcast: Live Life Aberdeenshire Conversations - Summer Reading
There are two online forms for participants to fill in and register to take part, one is for children, young adults and families and the other for our adult readers. Staff at your local library will also be able to sign you up and you can pick up a collectors card as well.
You can also download your card here, to enter Summer Reading for individuals, families and groups. The interactive card makes it easy for you to mark off each circle as you read/listen to a book or attend an event. Once your card is full send a copy back to us to be in into a prize draw and be in with a chance to win some fantastic prizes: summerreading@aberdeenshire.gov.uk
This year’s creative competition's are linked to the Book of Deer returning to the North-East of Scotland for the first time in approximately 1000 years. Images and Doodles in the book reflect culture and society and can tell us a lot of what life was like in this area at that time.
You are invited to capture an image of day-to-day life, society, culture, or landscape, that if the image was found 1000 years from now, it would tell a story of life in Aberdeenshire in 2022.
You'll have the option to submit your image via email, along with a voice recording of no more than 20 seconds long describing your image (voice recording is optional), and why you think this would reflect life in Aberdeenshire 2022. You can also drop off images with the entry form to your local library.
Pre School children are invited to draw a picture to tell a story about what life is like in Aberdeenshire in 2022.
