Selected libraries across Aberdeenshire are now able to offer customers the opportunity to browse the bookshelves. It’s been more than a year since we have been able to let customers explore our collections in person but from Monday 24th May you will be able to book a slot to visit one of our Book to Browse libraries.
There is a limit to the number of customers allowed in the building at one time, so booking is essential. You can book online, or via our customer helpline by calling 01467 532929.
Each booking slot is 30 minutes in length and although you can arrive at any point within your booked slot you must leave the library by the end of your allocated time.
If you are not coming to the library alone, you must tell us in your booking how many people are visiting with you. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, who will be responsible for the child’s behaviour, and will ensure they follow our physical distancing guidelines.
In line with government guidance you must wear a face covering or have a legitimate reason for not wearing a mask.
Please use the sanitiser stations as you enter the library. We do ask that you keep the handling of the books to a minimum where possible and sanitise your hands while moving between the shelves. At the moment you won’t be able to sit and read or study but you will be able to browse the shelves and select the items you would like to borrow.
Although we may not have any one-way systems in place, we ask that you do maintain physical distancing. Our toilet facilities are also available for you to use during your visit.
Test and Protect data including your name and contact number will be captured during the booking process. You can find more information about Test and Protect here: Check In Scotland QR code
As well as browsing our shelves, you can also:
Our public access PC's are still available but must be pre booked: Book a Public PC
To save queues forming around our issue desks, we encourage you to use our self service points (please remember to bring your library card), or the Spydus App to check out your books. Remember you can use the app to place reservations and extend your load period.
Our short video guide to shows you how to use the app to check out your items.
You can download the app from your app store by searching for Spydus.
The first time you use it you'll be asked to select your Library service from a list. Choose Aberdeenshire Libraries and on the next screen choose Login.
Just ask a member of staff if you need any help with the self service options, we will be happy to help get you set up.
