For the first time ever, we are finishing our heated 2025 season, the best way we could think how, for doggo's to take their human’s for a swim!!!
Bookings will go live on the 8th of September on our app, on our website and on site at the leisure centre (no doggo's allowed in there unfortunately).
Below are some of the dos and don'ts around the session to keep it safe and fun for everyone.
Info for the humans (because dogs can’t read):
- Dog owners take their dogs at their own risk and take full responsibility for their dog. There is no canine 1st aider at the session.
- The session is for 45 minutes, however that allows you to come in and out, remember to give your dog a break, most dogs swimming a short time is more than a big hill climb.
- Remember our pool is a mix of chlorine and salt water so dogs should not be drinking the water excessively. There is a risk when dogs drink too much salt water, so if your dog is trying to drink a lot of water take them out and there will be plenty of drinking bowls for them to drink from.
- Flotation aids are recommended, they are a great way to keep your dog safe and happy (we will not be providing these, but they are available with a 1-day delivery from amazon).
- Your ticket price is for 1 adult and 1 dog, every dog needs a ticket and an adult with them. You can buy an additional adult ticket if 2 adults want to go in (they must be with a dog & human), but these are very limited.
- Refunds won’t be offered if your dog doesn’t want to go in or if they are arguing with other dogs.
- To ensure control of your doggo they need to be on a lead and their humans in the water with them.
- We will be keeping our chlorine levels within the regulation limits for dogs Guidance on dog swim sessions in swimming pools. Hoses will be available to pre and post pool wash (no shampoo this is just a wee wash down). If you don’t want to do this at the pool, we recommend you bath your dog when you get home.
- For the humans we suggest wearing a long-sleeved top to avoid scratches (the doggo’s will be very excited).
- Changing rooms will be open for humans but not dogs unfortunately. The best thing to do though would be to wear a dry robe and shower at home (unless you have someone with you who can let you shower).
- All dogs need to be walked before the session, there is a grassy area outside the pool building, remember to be responsible owners and clean up after your dog.
- Lifeguards will be on poolside, their role is to help a human, they are not trained to help a dog that is the owners responsibility.
- We have an absolutely no aggression policy so if either you or your dog growl at anyone, you'll both be asked to leave.
- Due to this being a trial, we are not running breed specific sessions so please remember there will be doggo’s of all sizes in the pool.
- Dog breeds that by law require to be muzzled would need to be muzzled in the pool so unfortunately this time the session won’t be suitable for them.
- Dogs must be healthy and not suffering any illness with their jabs up to date. Dogs in season are not allowed in the session. If you are concerned dog owners should speak to their vet prior to attending.
- Guidance on dog swim sessions in swimming pools. Some dog breeds are very poor swimmers, and participation in dog swim sessions should be under careful supervision: Pugs, Bulldogs, Basset Hounds, Boxers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Corgis, and Chow Chows. A dog buoyancy aid can assist breeds which are poorer swimmers to participate in the session, this would be up to your owners to provide.
- Our shallow end will be open for you because we know the doggo’s prefer to swim in 0.9m depth. The stairs are nice for you to get down.
- Dogs should be brushed at home before arriving to remove excess hair.
