Starting on the 6th July, the first day of the Summer Holidays, the Library service staff will have planted knitted teddy bears in communities across Aberdeenshire as part of the 30th Anniversary since “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” has been published. There will of course be one in the Library and then other venues in the community.
Knit and Natter Groups, that meet in our Libraries, have taken up the challenge and produced over 200 teddy bears. These bears or trauma bears as they are known, will be donated to Emergency Services once the Hunt is over.
We are asking families to go down to their local library and pick up a card and then go out and explore your local community. Once the bears have been found mark on the card where they are and what colour they are. Then hand the card back to the Library staff, where you will get a small prize. You will then be entered into a Prize Draw and the lucky winner and their family will help donate the bears to the Emergency Services.
Great way to get out in your local community and an activity to keep active during the Summer Holidays. Ask at your local library for more details.
