Past Workshops

The project’s first phase in spring 2022, led by artist Nic Green, saw Raku pottery workshops delivered on a farm and clay tile engraving at Thainstone Mart, Inverurie.

Engagement with participants led to a diverse mix of images on tiles inspired by farming and the landscape, and pots with textures reflecting barley and local soil.

A new series of workshops led by Mary Bourne and Lynne Strachan took place on local farms from summer 2022 until spring 2023.
Kindly hosted by participant farmers, many of the workshops took place in barns and agricultural buildings or centres, where members of the farming community felt comfortable to meet and actively engage in creative activities with their peers.

  • “It made us feel part of a larger whole: therefore happier. It helped us feel more competent and able to accept and offer assistance should anyone ask”
  • “I became aware of, and valued my own creativity and skills”
  • “Encouragement and hands on experiences really work well”
  • “Very relaxing”…”built my confidence”…”enabled me to express myself”
